2005 AAKSIS NATIONAL CONFERENCE

INFORMATION:

The American Association for Klinefelter Syndrome Information and Support (AAKSIS) is pleased to announce that its 2005 National Conference will take place on Friday, July 29, and Saturday, July 30, 2005, at the Crowne Plaza Atlanta Airport Hotel.

Information provided at AAKSIS National Conferences concerns XXY individuals of all ages, including those who are variants of XXY.

Complimentary private consultations with medical, educational, and speech specialists will be available on a first come, first served basis.

SPEAKERS:

The 2005 AAKSIS National Conference Planning Committee has assembled an outstanding "core program" of speakers who have presented at previous AAKSIS National Conferences. These speakers include:

Jeannie Visootsak, M.D. Developmental Pediatrician Dept. of Pediatrics Emory University School of Medicine Developmental Pediatrics Specialist and Researcher.  Co-author of Klinefelter Syndrome And Its Variants: An Update And Review For The Primary Pediatrician.

Wolfram E. Nolten, M.D. F.A.C.E. Endocrinologist and currently Associate Professor of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism University of Wisconsin Medical School, Madison, Wisconsin Expert in the treatment of Klinefelter Syndrome

Luciano Kolodny, M.D.  Endocrinologist Currently with the medical group, HealthPartners, located in the Twin Cities where he practices general Endocrinology and Andrology with particular attention to patients with Klinefelter syndrome and their families

Jay Giedd, M.D.  Chief of the Brain Imaging Unit National Institute of Mental Health Child Psychiatry Branch where he conducts research on the biological basis of cognitive, emotional and behavioral disorders. Currently he is conducting a study of the effects of sex chromosomes on brain development

Daniel Davis, Ph.D   Author and psychologist whose practice includes assessment and treatment of emotional and behavioral problems in children and adolescents. 
His latest book, Your Angry Child, A Guide for Parents has just been released.

Margaret Garvin, M. Ed.  Presenting information on educational issues often facing the XXY student and modifications for success.

The 2005 AAKSIS National Conference Planning Committee is awaiting confirmation that additional "core speakers" will be presenting at the 2005 AAKSIS National Conference.

HOTEL INFORMATION:

For 2005 AAKSIS Nat'l. Conf. attendees, the sleeping room rate at the Crowne Plaza Atlanta Airport Hotel is $85.00/nite + 10% tax (current tax amt.).  This rate is guaranteed for reservations made by 07/07/05.  After that date, additional sleeping room reservation requests will be honored on a space and rate available basis.

Sleeping room reservations should be made directly with the Crowne Plaza Atlanta Airport Hotel's reservation dept. at 1-866-896-8937 (toll-free)
, and attendees should identify the group as AAKSIS-Amer. Assoc. for Klinefelter Syndrome Info. & Support.

Rooms can be guaranteed for late arrival to an individual's credit card or advanced deposit.  Any guaranteed reservations not cancelled before 6:00 P.M. on the arrival date will be billed to the credit card or against the advanced deposit.

The Hotel's check-in time begins at 3:00 P.M. and check-out time is 12:00 noon.

Each attendee will pay for his or her own room, tax, and incidental charges upon departure.

Sleeping rooms amenities include: in-room coffeemaker w/complimentary coffee; hairdryers; irons & full-size ironing boards; make-up mirrors; work area w/data & fax ports; data-port phones; and pay-per-view movies. 

The Crowne Plaza Atlanta Airport Hotel offers complimentary shuttle transportation to and from Hartsfield-Atlanta Airport and complimentary parking spaces are available.
